The Muslim Community of Edmonton (MMCE) gathered at the Aldergrove Community Centre to celebrate Eid ul Fitr, marking the joyous conclusion of Ramadan with reflection, gratitude, and unity.
A special duffmuttu performance by young boys added a lively and vibrant touch, celebrating cultural traditions in the community.
The event was graced by notable figures, including executives from MASC (Malabar Arts and Sports Community) and the owner of Savoys, Mr. Sajai Sebastian, who so graciously hosted our members for Iftar. These distinguished guests were invited to join the celebration and share in the festive atmosphere.
The program began with a heartfelt Quran recitation by Muhannad, followed by a welcoming speech from Shamil, who expressed gratitude towards the attendees. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Shabana, acknowledging everyone who contributed to the success of the celebration.
A highlight of the event was the distribution of Eidiyas to over 50 children from the community, bringing joy to their faces. Prizes were also awarded to children under 10 who made attempts to fast, encouraging them to participate in the spirit of Ramadan.
Additionally, the Qirath competition, which had been held earlier during Ramadan, was recognized with prize distribution during the Eid celebration. The winners of the competition were awarded for their dedication and excellence in Quran recitation.
This celebration not only honored the completion of Ramadan but also recognized the efforts of the younger generation, fostering a sense of pride and unity within the community.
